Creating a nostalgic brand identity for CDA

CBP created a new brand identity for kitchen appliance brand CDA’s new retro refrigeration collection. Working with the team at CDA it was clear from the outset that the collection required a different identity to the core brand and something that captured both a nostalgic aspect and quirky edge to reflect the cheeky personality of the refrigerators.

There is a definite tip of the hat towards the 1940’s with a chrome framed logo surround and typeface, accompanied by a chamfered edge backing plate, colour matched to each refrigerators paint finish.

It was really important to create a branding ‘plate’ design that worked as an aesthetic finishing touch to the product, more a decorative sign off than a brand statement. Historically CDA’s branding on product has been a subtle touch, discrete and understated but here the brand takes centre stage without being a distraction from the overall product aesthetic.
